Frequently Asked Questions

All sessions are held online via Zoom, from the comfort and privacy of your own space.

'What do I need to prepare for an online session?'

How many sessions will I need? Is one enough?

It depends on what you are working through, the resources and reserves you currently have, and how we work together. It also depends on how much you want to engage in the process of change.

If you have a clear, realistic goal in mind, often just one or two sessions are enough. If you are working with a long-standing habit or something rooted in earlier trauma, it may take a little more time to explore what is really at the heart of it, and what you would genuinely like to change. Meaningful change also asks something of you too - a readiness to engage with the process, not just attend it.

How do I know if this is the right fit for me?

I recommend starting with a free 20-minute video call. It is a chance for us to talk through what you would like help with, so I can explain how we might work together or point you toward another health professional whose expertise may be a better fit for what you need.

What happens in the first paid session?

If you'd like to continue with me, your first session runs for 90 minutes, at the same relaxed pace as a regular 60-minute follow-up session. The extra time is there so I can get to know you better and what matters to you most.

What if I lose the Zoom link?

The link is in your confirmation or reminder email and SMS. If you are unable to find it, contact me directly and I will resend it.

What if we get disconnected or my internet drops out?

It happens rarely and if it does, it is genuinely nothing to worry about. You will notice an extended period of silence that was not prompted by me, so you can simply reconnect using the same link and I will be there waiting so we can pick up exactly where we left off.

Will I look or behave strangely on screen?

Absolutely not, hypnosis looks very much like having a deeply relaxed moment or being in quiet thought. You're not "under" anyone's control, and there's nothing performative about it.

Is the session private and confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed remains confidential within professional and legal obligations. Sessions are not video recorded visually but they are audio recorded so that you may listen to it again in your own time, which will keep reinforcing and strengthening those helpful neural pathways.

What if I'm nervous about my first session?

That's completely normal - many people feel this way before their first experience of hypnotherapy and any other type of therapy. We will go at your pace and you are always in control.

What do I need for an online session?

  • You will need a private quiet space where you can relax and will not be disturbed - by people, pets, or your phone.

  • Make it comfortable - there is no right way to sit or recline. Choose your favourite armchair, prop up in bed with pillows, sit cross-legged on a cushion, or lean back against a wall. Choose wherever helps you feel at ease for the session.

  • Set up your camera, if possible, to show your upper body and hands, rather than just your face. I might ask for a small gesture, like a finger tap or a smile, just so I know you are comfortable and we are moving at the right pace together.

  • Place your phone on silent, do not disturb or turn it off

  • Check you have a strong, stable internet connection

  • Have water nearby, and a journal for noting reflections if you would like to.

Most importantly; bring your curiosity
